My application was x'ferd to LA office on Oct 21st 09 and I was wondering if anyone of you are in the same bucket as I am.. I applied on July/Aug 09.. Do you knw how long will it take to process @ LA office and hence forth..

Re: Processing times @ Los Angeles

We applied July and the application was transferred from Buffalo to LA on Sept 16...and we got the passport request on October 21...she is from the U.S. with no dependents accompanying...so it was pretty straight-forward. Good luck!

Re: Processing times @ Los Angeles

My application was also transferred to Los Angeles on October 21 and the visa was approved on November 4, so the processing time in Los Angeles in my case was only about 10 business days (!). We were really surprised at how quickly it went. Our case was also quite simple. My husband (who is a Canadian citizen) and I live together in the U.S. and plan to move to Quebec. We have no dependents accompanying, no previous marriages, and no criminal record. Hopefully your application will be processed quickly, too. Best of luck!

Re: Processing times @ Los Angeles

Thank you so much!.
My application is also quite simple as all others.. I was surprised to see some of the posts in this forum whose applications were processed so quickly.. Hope fully I am on the right track and hope to get my case approved this months..

Is e-client the best way to track the application status? Is the correspondence usually done by email or regular mail.

I just checked the status this morning with my immigration file number and this is what they had to say: Is this good news?? How soon can I expect an email based on your experiences..

We started processing your application on October 8, 2009.
We transferred your application to the Los Angeles office on October 21, 2009. The Los Angeles office may contact you.
Medical results have been received.

Re: Processing times @ Los Angeles

e-CAS was the best way I found to track my application status. Sometimes, however, I have received correspondence from CIC before any information contained in it was posted online. For intsance, my status online reads like yours at this point (except that it isn't even stated that they have received my medical results), and yet I already received the passport request in the mail. It just depends on how things fall with respect to when they update the online database versus when they sent a letter through the post.

Have you logged your case on trackitt? That's a good way to see what's going on with other people's applications, how long various parts of the process take, etc. If you are interested in knowing more about how my process has gone, feel free to take a look at my blog. There is also quite a bit of information here in the forum on the CAIPS notes. It doesn't sound like those would be interesting for you at this point, but if things drag on or an interview is requested they might be.

I know that waiting for information can be difficult. It does sound like your case is making forward progress, so that's good news!

Wow! Talk about some amazing timelines, congrats guys!

Re: Processing times @ Los Angeles

Wow! I'm in Southern California and while I'm still working on submitting the application,
it raises my spirits a good bit to see such success. My husband is a little more impatient than I am,
but I'm crossing my fingers as much as he is.

I will post a timeline once the timeline actually begins.

Re: Processing times @ Los Angeles

OK.. Good News! LA office asked me to send the passport asap.. How long will this process last? WHen can I epect my passport back? Any Ideas?

Also, do we have to send them a pre-paid envelope?

Re: Processing times @ Los Angeles

The passport request should contain all the instructions on what you need to send and how. It's optional but recommended to send them a pre-paid envelope (unless L.A. differs from Buffalo).

Re: Processing times @ Los Angeles

I am sending my passport tomorrow to LA office but I have 2 questions:

How long will this process last? WHen can I epect my passport back? Any Ideas?

What do they need the passport for? I know that they will send me the landing form but am not sure about the request for passport.

Please enlighten..

Re: Processing times @ Los Angeles

They put the visa in your passport. When you land you need both the visa in the passport and the Confirmation of Permanent Residence.

Re: Processing times @ Los Angeles

Any idea on how long will LA office or any other office take to process the visa and send us the passport back to us.

Re: Processing times @ Los Angeles

I'm afraid not. In my case I got it from Buffalo, but I went there in person to get it.

Based on other people's posts on this forum, it seems to take anywhere from a few weeks to a month in most cases. Some take longer, but usually not in the U.S.A.
