Same situation here, I told my husband to order notes for the second time he told me he doesn't wanna waste 5$ just for the notes and that hurts me :'( :P

Waste $5? I will be ordering them every month until my wife gets the visa. After paying so much for the application $5 a month is a pretty small investment to know exactly what's going on with the application.

I agree at 150%

We applied for Outland Family Sponsorship in January, & then I applied for visit visa & it's approved.

So can we both go to Canada now & stay there until our application is approved. Or it is illegal to & we have to come back to our country ?

Thanks,

Thanks,

if you were approved for a visitor visa, it is not illegal to go visit canada. once there, you can apply to extend your stay while your pr application processes.

Maybe he tried to make fun of you only :D :D. Ordering the notes and wait 1 month is better than waiting unknown months for the applications.

Thanks CDNPR2014 , I understand it is not illegal to visit Canada after TRV approval . But I have already applied for PR within Kuwait & TRV was applied later, & my concern is upon visiting Canada can I stay there until PR is approved ?. Or I must come back to Kuwait because PR was applied there ?

You can stay until PR is approved, however you should not overstay your visa. If you want to stay longer on the visitor visa, you can apply to extend it. When you get PR approved while staying in Canada on a TRV, you will have to leave Canada, and then come back as an immigrant.

And on a side note, thanks for demonstrating it's possible to get a TRV while married.

Hi! I need some assistance. I'm Canadian and my husband is American. Our sponsorship application is Outland. It's been 14 months now and CIC on-line application status states "permanent residency in progress".
How much longer is it going to take before my husband obtains his permanent residency. We submitted our application in February '15.
Thank you for your assistance. We appreciate it.

Edit: Sorry, I accidentally read that as February 2016, not 2015. You should definitely order notes to see where your application is. Somewhere around 6 months is the normal processing time for an American applicant through Ottawa. Was your application sent to Ottawa? Was it sent to Los Angeles at any point? Were there any additional document requests? Each time they need to request a document from you it can add months to your application. I still can't see it adding 8 months to your application though.

Have you received Sponsorship Approval yet? It will likely be at least another month or two before you get it... Some February applicants have received a decision on their PR from the US (processed through Ottawa), but it's too early to tell if that's a new normal. Before people were expecting at least 5-6 months with a straight forward application, but 2-4 months has become a little more common. Again, it's too soon to tell, but I wouldn't be surprised if your application takes another few months at least. Good luck.

Edit: If the Principal Applicant's side says "in process", then it could be as soon as a few weeks to as much as a couple months.

Note that the original poster of the question noted 14 months, not 2 months, and February of 2015, not of 2016. Which seems quite shocking for an American going through Ottawa outland.

Oops, I thought he said February 2016, not 2015, my bad. Yes, for an Ottawa application that is way too long, unless the application was sent to Los Angeles somewhere along the line. I would order notes to see what exactly is going on with the application. Thank you for pointing out my mistake.

Hi everyone,
I have two questions:

1. When we sent our application our VO had a 17 month waiting time, now it change to 15 months, is our case going to be solve in a 17 month time frame or on a 15 month frame?

2. Does the time change for a certain country beneficial to those who are applying for sponsorships and their cases got sent to another VO? For example: People who apply from Ecuador (17 months) are sent to Bogota VO (17 months before, now 15 months)?

Thanks!!! :D
Hope all your cases are solved in less time than your VO time frame says.

Unfortunately, those times are not guarantees, nor are they really service standards, but simply look at how much time it took in the past time period to process 80% of applications. Your case will be handled according to the complexity of its processing, and other cases being handled by the VO, etc. When the processing times change, that does not change anything in terms of how your case is processed. It does, however, mean that if your case is not processed within that time period you can request an explanation and update from IRCC/CIC.
