Hoping for information on processing time. I have applied as a skilled worker with a job offer and have relatives (2 aunts, uncle and grandmother) who are canadian citizens. Any idea how long this might take to be approved?

The processing time for a FSW is independent of having a job offer or relatives....it will not decrease your processing time. If your job offer is AEO based then you can definitely expect delay in processing as CIC will have to check the employer credentials along with yours and currently all AEO based applications are taking a lot of time to process.

In your opinion, do you think that AEO applicants after June 2010 (we submitted to CIO end of June 2011 and received PER in August 2011 with application number and forwarded to London) will also take a long time to process also.?

thanks

Hi Guys,

As already described : AEO - Arranged employment offer. The profession in AEO offer letter does not have to be in the Ministerial list and one does not have to provide Proof of funds when applying with AEO for a Permanent residency (PR).

But the catch is, you can not work for the employer until your (PR) application is approved by HRSDC....AEO based jobs are subject to approval of a PR. One also has the option of not joining the job after getting the PR...but that is not NICE eh!! Similarly, the employer also reserves the right to cancel the job if he wishes but with valid reasons...like closing business or RECESSION :(. AEO's are generally valid for a year after which one has to re-confirm the validity. (HRSDC approval etc)

How to get it:

Do extensive search for employers from Canada who will apply for AEO for you based on your skills and their requirement/demand. Once it is approved by HRSDC then you may apply for a Permanent Residency with this AEO that you have received from the Employer.

AEO can also be generated by friends and family who have based their business in Canada and need your skills to support their business.

The employer has to maintain strict requirements to obtain a POSITIVE AEO approved by HRSDC, esp with regards to wages which should be in sync with the current wages. Most employers are not very familiar with the AEO procedure so you may help him find the appropriate paper work and do some research on his behalf.

Now, since AEO are generated by employers here in Canada, CIC has to check the validity and the authenticity of such jobs and they have set aside a lot of resources to investigate the AEO job offers.... which includes on site investigation that is time consuming....this is just ONE reason why AEO related PR application takes longer than usual time to process, even in the event of very genuine paperwork...unfortunate, but BITTER TRUTH. :( :(

AEO applicants in any scenario (MI1,MI2 or MI3 ) is/will take more time to process......but just hang in there...your chance will come :)
