I called up my consultant today and he said he will email abudhabi embassy regarding my visa status .. He said because of the holidays my visa may arrive in first week of january
P.S ( its going to be 7 weeks for me and i didn't receive any info regarding my visa from embassy/vfs )

I've applied on 30th December under SPP still status showing Being Processed at VO. My class is gonna start on 5th Jan.

Hello.

Applied online from India on Nov 1st, 2015 and still no update except for medicals showing "Passed". Classes starting on Jan 4th, 2016. What's the use of applying more than 2 months in advance if CIC still can't process the application in time?

On CIC Twitter. And if you look at it, CIC start processing again just a week ago, after the refugee are coming into Canada.

Omg!! Are cic for real ?? We are waiting for months and how can they just stop processing and concentrate on refugees .. I really dont knw wht to say now

I applied from Saudi Arabia VFS Alkhobar !

nothing new till today, they'll close Thursday and Sunday and open again on Monday the 4th which is the start date of my classes !

so my hope is only today Wednesday then will call the school to defer the semester

On CIC Twitter. And if you look at it, CIC start processing again just a week ago, after the refugee are coming into Canada.

Please don't spread misinformation. The CIC Twitter account does talk about the refugees, but nowhere does it say that all resources have been transferred to processing the refugee applications. Clearly they're still processing other applicants as well, since the processing times are updated every once in a while and there is movement, it's just very very slow. Yes, I definitely agree it's way too slow.

If you don't have your study permit by now, you probably should defer the start of your studies to the next semester.
