Processing Office

Hi everyone!
My partner and I currently live in Australia are planning on relocating to USA for work but are unsure if we will get accepted into our residency training programs or not. We were thinking of getting started on Canadian spousal visa sponsorship. We will only find out in march 2026 if we have been accepted into our program and will have to move to USA by June 2026. There is a chance that only I (Sponsor) may be accepted in that case my fiance (applicate) would stay in Australia or vice versa. Once we have the canadian visa approval we plan on moving to Canada to continue our life together. The questions we have:

1. Once my partner and I lodge our outland application from Australia. I believe the application will go to the nearest processing office. Being in Australia I'm assuming this will be in Sydney?
2. For medical check or interviews will these have to be done within Australia? Can medical checks be done at another processing office overseas? Can interviews be conducted over zoom?

How are you doing Outland sponsorship as a Canadian if not moving to Canada. You have to show that you are moving to Canada - lease, home, bank accounts, job offer or job search.

It makes no sense to apply if you are not planning on settling in Canada. As already indicated you will need to have concrete proof that you will return to Canada after receiving sponsorship approval. You should only apply maximum a year before the both of you are actually planing on moving to Canada so in your last year of residency/fellowship. For example if you have secured jobs in Canada during the processing of your sponsorship you can then update your application. That would be concrete proof of your intent to return and settle in Canada.
