Hello. I am a U.S. citizen living in the U.S. who has been accepted into a Master of Social Work program at UBC Okanagan with a start date of Sept 1, 2020. I received my acceptance letter on March 9 and submitted my completed Study Permit application online on March 20. I received one email which acknowledged receipt of application but nothing further.
I am trying to find out if Study Permits for someone like myself will still be processed or if they are on hold indefinitely? I found the following guidance:
"IRCC confirmed that the processing of study permits, visas and electronic travel authorizations (eTAs) will continue for those who are exempt from travel restrictions. The processing of study permits will continue "to the extent possible" in preparation for the fall academic term."
From what I gather, I do not fall into any of those exempted categories.
Does anyone know what is happening with applications like mine? I understand the situation is fluid and the answer may be "No one knows at this time".
Thank you in advance for your help.
