Seniors and The Experienced's:

My PR application file is with CPP-Ottawa. My application is nearing the "Decision Made". I have done my medicals on July/20/2013, and waiting for PPR from Ottawa.

In the mean while, I have secured a job offer in Canada as an engineering researcher. And I am gathering documents to apply for a temporary Work Permit at New Delhi visa office in India. My PGWP is expired, hence I must apply for a TWP to enable myself to start this job by October/15/2013.

I have the following questions -

1) Can I get a TWP while my PR application is still in process? Please note that the PR and TWP applications are processed at two different visa offices, one in Ottawa the other at New Delhi.

2) I have already done the medicals for PR application (one month back). Do I need to do the medicals again for my TWP application?

3) Can I request CPP-Ottawa to hold my PPR until I obtain a TWP from New Delhi?

4) Alternatively- I can wait until I have my PPR from Ottawa (not sure when I would get it), then get my passport stamped an immigrant visa, and land in Canada as a PR. But this route may be unlikely considering that I have to start the job by October/15/2013. I may request my employer to stretch my joinging another month. But this option is still risky considering nobody has a control over PPR.

Please share your experience of if you have some idea on how to do PR and TWP simultaneously. Your help is much appreciated. thanks

Yes - dual intent allows this. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2009/ob131.asp

The medical examinations are typically separate for temporary residence and PR applications. Wait for instructions from the VO for medical examinations. GCMS will show you have applications for both and a determination will be done if the medical exam done for the PR can be used for the TRV.

If PPR comes early, you may reply back to Ottawa if needed, and inform them of the need to extend their timeframe of submitting the PPs for stamping of PRVs. Act accordingly when you get a reply back.

You can apply for TWP once you have nominated by Province. You will apply for open work permit and do include documents that you have got job. Also, the medical done for PPR will be used to grant you TWP. Just include the medical request(IME # will be there) and also I would recommend you to include receipt of your medical. Also, take print screen shot of ECAS status.

Pls note that to get TWP, you need to prove that you will come back. Just write that if PR is not granted, you will come back. Show property and other related things to show ties to your country. Request the immigration officer to apply dual intent to grant you visa.

Remember, dont say that you will granted PR you shud get TWP. On the contrary, write you are law abiding citizen, and would come back if not granted PPR.

Hope this helps !!
