Process of deferring semester

I have a PhD starting in Fall 2020. I was waiting for visa status to change but it has not so far so i want to defer, it would be hard to start online classes with this stress.

So my question is are there any issues or concerns I should think of before doing this? I want to defer to Spring 2021, when hopefully things will make more sense.

It depends on each university rules. Most important to get your supervisor approval to defer.

I have recieved his approval but before going through with it I want to confirm if there would be issues with VISA or anything like that

If you didn't receive any decision, it is your right to defer. After you defer, you send them your new admission letter through the webform.
