Hello everyone,
I'm applying through my national university for an exchange program. I will be going to Canada and study there for 4 months and then return to my country to graduate.
I understand I don't need a student visa since I'm staying less than 1 year. My university will handle the visa documents and the study permit.
But the one who will be paying for my stay (flight, accomodation and food - since I don't have to pay tuition) will be my boyfriend. He relocated last year to Canada precisely because of this, he even got an apartment pretty close to the Canadian university.
I read the official website and it mentions mostly family members, but a few other websites mention some other people, although it's more suspicious for the application. He is a software engineer earning five figures a month and can comfortably accomodate me, he has all the documentation that the sponsorship requires, but I don't know if this is possible to do.
My country is very complicated regarding foreign currency on bank accounts and has a measly daily limit on buying foreign currency (while a lot of people are banned from buying foreign currency in a legal way), so I'm not able to have the funds in my own bank account for this reason. Same with big money transfers. So we decided he would sponsor me another way.
Do you see this as possible? Anyone in the same situation?
Thank you!
