Hi all,

My husband and I received our PPR a couple of days back. Also before a couple of months, I found out that I am pregnant. In this regards, I am more inclined to have my delivery in my home country due to various reasons. Hence, we have decided to inform the CIC through the web form regarding my pregnancy and also it is mentioned in the passport request letter (that we received from CIC) to inform them of any change in application.

However my issue now is since I am in early stages of my pregnancy, chances are more for them to issue our PRs and ask us to have my delivery in Canada(which we do not want to). Can you all please help me to address this concern in the web form? How can I inform them my wish to have my baby outside Canada and later travel together once the baby is born. I know they will put our application on hold which we are okay with.

Please advise me on the content that would result in a favorable reply to us from the CIC.

Kind note: Please do not advise me to have my delivery in Canada. I am well aware of the benefits and still do not wish to do it due to other reasons.

They won't ask you to have your baby anywhere. They don't care where you give birth.

Depending on when your COPRs will expire and how far along you are, there is no guarantee that they will put the app on hold. You can ask but if the baby is due after COPR expiry, they may refuse. You would have to land before expiry. You could then return to your country to give birth and sponsor your child after. Sponsorship requires one of you be living in Canada throughout the process.

Would also look at the different provincial health plans. Some have an up to 3 month wait period. Each provincial health plan has their own residency application as well so if you decide to have your child in a province you have to commit to living their for a period of time.

iaasume you will likely need to do a soft landing and then return to your home country to have your baby. You can attempt to get a TRV for your child to return to Canada. If denied you can try for a TRP. If both denied one parent will need to sponsor from Canada which will take 5-11 months. If your child is in Canada on a TRV she/ he may not have health insurance until they have PR plus the wait time. You will have to purchase private insurance for emergencies and pay for routine care.
