Hi,

I would like to know if there is anybody with a similar case as mine. We received our medical requests a day after we found out that my wife is pregnant for 4 weeks. We were informed that we would have to wait until the baby is born before we can do medicals as we cannot do the xrays for her. I called the DMPs and they said that they will not do xrays and do not recommend it for pregnant women. So we will have to wait for 9 months before we can have our medicals done including the new baby.

Does this mean that we will automatically just get teh new medical requests from the visa office or are they going to re-evaluate our application again? I hope to get opinions from those that have similar cases and are familiar with this situation.

1 In many cases DMP does x ray of pregnent women by placing plate in front of the lower abdomen, It is just 4 weeks only. Call all the nearby DMP's - someone may agree. It is harmless.
2. In case you drop the idea of medical at this stage then inform the Visa Office with this reason. The give 60 days for medicals and may take it that you had not gone for medicals deliberately.
3. After the birth of child , get birth certificate, passport of child, send $ 150 CAD, photographs, forwarding letter to VO and you will get new medicals of all 3. Till that time your file would be on hold.

I had my x-ray taken when I was 3 months pregnant. I consulted with my Gynecologist and she said that it was ok as long as I wear the protective lead apron. In my case, the visa office asked me if we wanted to land in canada before or after childbirth. I opted to land after childbirth.

excuse me, please, with all due respect... i am bothered with your statement that "it is just four weeks only". it would be against my conscience if i won't say this... the first three months of pregnancy is the most crucial. organogenesis takes place at this moment (organo = organ, genesis = beginning) means the organs at this moment is developing, and if something wrong happen during the first three months, the baby would suffer.. so i guess the best way is to do the xrays after the first three months. yes, i also agree that it is "generally harmless" but if i am the parent, its a risk. there's a reason y DMP's postpone the xrays... i hope i did not offend you my friend.. good wishes..

Hello,

I'm also in the same track. I am 11 weeks pregnant and I believe that my medicals will come soon. I'm confuse if it will be safe for the fetus to do chest x-ray during pregnancy even if we have lead apron. They advise to deliver in Canada or else it will be a delay. Is there any alternative test instead of chest x-ray?

Thanks a lot! :)

so far, all the DMPs here in the US will not do the xray while pregnant and they do not recommend it, I guess me and my wife will just wait, we do not want to take the risk of harming the baby. Although I have also read that chest xrays are generally not harmful, but since no DMPs will do it anyway, so we will just wait until childbirth. I am only concerned if by that time, they will ask (again) for new certificates - fbi, bank, employment etc...? or is that totally out of the way and simply medicals will be done?
