Hi.

I am a Canadian citizen and I am sponsoring my husband from Iraq. I have just sent in my sponsorship papers and I haven't yet gotten approval for sponsorship. I'm just wondering if I were to get pregnant during the process of our file being reviewed, what is the effect? I have no children yet, and am not pregnant but am thinking about it.

Thanks.

There will be no impact to the sponsorship application. Pregnancy does not speed up processing times.

If you do get pregnant in the middle of sponsoring your husband and you have baby before your husband land, you would still need to inform CIC. Even though the baby is Canadian citizen by birth, you need to list all children, including those with canadian citizenship before husband land as PR.

The sponsorship application process won't change if the baby was born after your husband become PR.
