So I just got my medical request and of course the first thing I did was call the DMP for an appointment.
This is my experience:

- I told the Dr's receptionist I was pregnant. They asked me to ring the x-ray location to let them know too so that I am not refused when I get there.
- the x-ray location asked for a physician's letter - my regular care provider is fine.
- I therefore have an appointment with my regular physician tomorrow to get the letter and the DMP appointment is scheduled for Monday.

Everything I have researched says that chest x-ray during pregnancy is fine - the iron apron stops scatter but these days x-rays are so good and focused that there's nothing to worry about.
I will be taking the articles to my physician tomorrow as my backup :) but I expect I will need to agree with her that I'll do the x-ray in my second trimester - I'm coming up to 10 weeks so that's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

I will update accordingly!

Thanks for sharing. I'll put that link on my website for others who're in the same situation.

u need to go to Kitchener during 2nd trimester. Toronto DMP will never agree to grant u the x ray exam during pregnant. They will ask u to wait till after delivery. Also u can't do immigration medical exams with ur regular physician. That's all I know. all the best :)

I had a friend that did the medicals while in her 3rd trimester - the nurses weren't too happy but she insisted to have them do it.

Also have other friends who did x-rays during their pregnancy for other reasons and they said it was not a risk (like you mentioned) unless it gets done very often.

Good luck! I'm in my 3rd trimester waiting for AOR so pretty safe the baby will be here before I need to go for medicals.

Second that... the Medical examination should be done by the approved list of panelists by CIC.

Good luck.

Good luck.
it is being done by CIC approved panelists- but on the advice of the x-ray centre, I am seeing my regular physician as well to get her letter of instruction that it is my choice to do this.

hi all
just a quick update on this as I am now in my second trimester - whooop!
So I called Dr Martin Taylor (the original one I called above) and they didn't have any appointments until December 19 - boooo
So I called Dr Lyndon Mascarenhas and dreading that I'd have to go through the same argument, they were absolutely fine that I am pregnant the receptionist said I just have to sign an extra form - they were even impressed that I had a letter of approval from my family doctor - I have an appointment on Thursday so fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly!

Hello everybody,

We are requested for medical. My wife is in her 1st trimester and we decided not to do x-ray for her. But she has another x-ray done by immigration doctor three years ago. Has any body any idea if we can ask for the old results to be sent and accepted in our case? The previous one was for her work permit application...

Thanks for sharing ideas.
Sean
