PR Status not Updated

Hi there

I am in Canada on a BC PNP and my PR application shows as successfully received in Sydney Nova Scotia in January 2014.

Then around February, I received the requests for:

New RCMP police Checks
Updated Schedule A - I had made a typo on a date
Full UK Birth Certificates - we only had short versions
RPR Fees - confirmation received

All of this went in by early April - took ages to order full birth certificates from the UK. Tracked the parcel and it was received with all originals on 17 April 2014.

Then in my Spam/Bulk mail, I found a request for Medicals so we immediately went to get them done immediately Mid June 2014.

Then nothing.............

I checked my Status and all it says is:
Application Received
Medicals received

So I did a Case Specific Enquiry in July and received a reply in October - just simply saying, we are just waiting your RCMP Checks - I replied saying they were all in same envelope - but no reply back.

I have copies of our Police Checks now dated early April - so even out of date now.

I called the CIC Call Centre - they said they cannot check anything specific but they do know Medicals are out of date after 6mths! (They were super expensive for 3 of us).

I don't know what to do - do I just sit tight and timing all sounds ok to people? Should I worry that they "think" they don't have my RCMP checks? Or shall I assume that if they really didn't have them, I would have heard formally?

We complete on a house purchase late December and really did not want to pay Property Transfer Tax of $7,500 - which we would be exempt for (mostly) if our PR was here.

I also want to change the Company that I work for - and am worried about doing so obviously until my PR is here.

Any guidance would be welcome :)

Kind regards
HockeyMom

Can't answer all but i do know your medicals are valid for 12 months , so have no idea what Cic is talking about and also the VO office can extend them if they wish to do so.As for your job if you are able to change without losing any status go ahead.

Now land transfer fees.. not sure where you are, but in Ontario first time buyers get a discount , they are not exempt from paying a % of them. As you are in Canada you can also apply for your gcms notes and see where your file is at.

Hi thank for this.

I'm in BC (re transfer tax) and here we would be partially exempt BUT only with PR!!!

What do you mean gcms notes?

Do you think I'm still within timelines? App received Jan 2014, more docs requested Feb 2014, Meds done June 2014 - then all dead quiet?

You are still in the time frame , but your gcms notes you can order on line .It gives you the info of where your file is . If you go to the cic website and search gmcs notes you can order them , They cost $5.00 bucks. You can also search this website and get a better understanding of what they are. If i was better on the computer i could copy and paste the website lol .

Yes you have to be PR before they give you the tax break on your land transfer tax .

In Ontario, you will only get the land transfer tax break if you have never owned an eligible property anywhere in the world. http://www.fin.gov.on.ca/en/bulletins/ltt/1_2008.html You should check the rules for each province as they may vary. In BC, the same restrictions apply. http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/topic.page?id=BBD16E2D7C1841A7BBD420E3AC5380F1

We have just been through this ourselves and were disappointed when our lawyer told us that we didn't qualify... :-(

Thanks, I will go check out gcms notes.

I'm a Mortgage Broker here in BC! My husband was never on Title in the UK so "with PR" we would qualify for a major exemption rather than pay $7500!!! Although our Lawyer says we are ok as we have been in BC more than 12mths - I know he is wrong! I was really hoping our PR would have come through by the end of this year.

I know we can still claim back if PR comes through within 12mths but I would rather not pay in the first place!!
