PR RO Obligation

Hello,

My PR is valid until Sept 2016. I stayed in Canada for 10 days when I did landing formalities in July2011. I am planning to go Canada this Month March 20th as I have US H1 B stamping and I want to explore Business partnership/job opportunities .

I guess, still have time to do 731 days PR RO as expiry date is sept 2016. What kind of questions that I can expect from officer at the border. Any advises or suggestions please.

I am no expert but have gone thru similar situation. They will ask you any thing under the sun to check whether u r honest or not. that's all. Discussion may last for half an hour also. So be Honest and nothing will happen. I came to Canada just few months before the expiry of PR card they grilled me for 25 minutes and then they smiled and told "welcome to Canada".

Finally, also note that they will enter everything you speak in the system as a permanent record. So be Honest and don't worry.

You actually don't just have to meet the RO at the expiry of your PR card but for your first 5 years as a PR too, that is landing date July 2011 until 5 years later and for any rolling 5 year period from any-day to any-day-5-years-ago after that.

However, since you have not yet been a PR for 3 years by the time you return, it would be impossible for you to be in breach of the RO just yet so the immigration officer will probably just remind you that you know about the RO and that you have to meet it.
