Hi, I am new to this, I have had my PR in Dec 2009, and since that period I have been in UK with circumstances beyond my control. For the past year I have been in India to take care of my ailing mother. As a precaution I have had to send my wife and kids to Canada to continue and attain PR and Citizenship. I would like to know what will be the process for me in getting my PR extended or if I am able to be with my family later on.

When you are ready to return to Canada for good, you can apply for a PR travel document stating that you have been taking care of your ailing mother and providing proof of her medical situation. If you get it, then you can return to Canada and renew your PR card. If you don't get it, you will lose your PR but your spouse can sponsor you again as long as she is living in Canada at the time and is still a PR and meets her residency requirements or if she has become a citizen.
