Hi

My pr card is expiring on 18th November 2016

These are my details

I landed in Canada 10th July 2011
Stayed in Canada for 18 days because at that time I was working in Dubai and just wanted to do my landing

Went back to Dubai and stayed there till end of April 2014

Migrated to Canada for good in may 2014

Stayed in Canada till present but also used to travel to the US for Christmas and Easter .

Even with my travel to the US I will be accumulating 745 days till 15th November .

I just want to know when I write my rolling five years in the pr renewal application will be like this

15th November 2011- 15 November 2016 ( address history)
15th November 2011 - 15 November 2016 ( work history)
15th November 2011 - 15th November 2016 (travel history)

Now when it comes to travel history , I was in Dubai from August 2011 to April 2014

So when I write the period to be assessed in my travel history , 15th November 2011 - 15th November 2016 will the days in Dubai before 15 November 2011 be counted .

Thanks , I have been wondering about this the whole week .

Secondly I was not able to find employment from Jan 2015 till present because of the job market I'm just worried whether that will be a big issue in renewing my pr even if I have fulfilled my 730 days

Thanks

Mona

If you apply on November 15th, they will not consider days in or outside Canada before November 15th 2011 because that period falls outside the past 5 years. As they are just asking the past 5 years, you only list the past 5 years.

Having been unemployed should not affect your ability to renew your PR card although having a job is really the best way to prove that you were in Canada. Have you at least filed taxes?

Thanks!

Since coming to Canada , I have been staying with my brother , so I did not have to pay utility bills or rent etc. Since coming to Canada I have opened a bank account , and have been using my money to help with the groceries etc. i use a visa debit card and sometimes withdraw money to pay in cash for groceries and food .I only did an unpaid internship from August 2014- dec 2014.Then since Jan 2015 like I mentioned above I have not been working . since coming to Canada do I still have to file taxes with no income?I have not asked for any benefits and I don't want any etc. I only have a health card and DRiving license.

While living in Canada, you are obligated to file taxes, even if you are not working. You should see an accountant and see about filing your taxes back in time.

If you want to renew your PR card, you should have a look at the application form and document checklist here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/prcard.asp If you read the instructions, you may notice that they suggest sending tax assessments as supporting documents as well as there is a question on the application form #24 where you are asked to allow immigration to ask CRA for your tax assessment. In the instructions they say that if you refuse, they may ask you to send in your tax info yourself. In any case, if you say no, immigration will be suspicious about it and if you say yes and they ask for the info and CRA says you've never filed taxes, they will be even more suspicious.

Thanks for the heads up!

I will be going to an H&R Block office tomorrow to get this done. It's always good to have no doubts in your mind. I didn't know I had to file taxes even with no income . Will do the needful.
