Hi,
I’m applying for my PR renewal, hoping to mail in the application tomorrow.
For the main identity document, the instructions say to send a copy of the current valid passport or the one we had when we became PR.

My current passport from Uruguay is valid but expiring in May. I already submitted an application for renewal and will only get the new passport in three weeks. I can’t wait that long as I need to apply for the PR renewal ASAP. I’d rather not send my current soon to expire passport as depending on PR processing times it may expire while my application is being processed, plus it will get superseded in a few weeks when I get the new passport.

I’m planning on sending a copy of the passport I had when I became a PR in 2007. The instructions don’t specify wether or not the passport we had at time of becoming PR should be valid. That passport has of course expired by now. Is it ok to send it as main identity document even if it’s expired?
Thanks!
