I like the post by @desertrose416 because this is indeed important information warranting an emphatic alert. We have not seen anything like this in the last two decades (perhaps never).

It highlights what is posted by @canuck_in_uk, that in effect PR card applications are largely, essentially, considered non-essential, and for the most part (even if not entirely) IRCC is NOT processing these.

It is hard to reconcile the recent radically large jumps in timeline information with how we understood the PR card application processing time information is usually determined. But that is of little or no import. It is clear, for now PR card application processing is effectively on-hold. And sure, this is going to result in some hardship to more than a few people, some more than others. But covid-19 is having detrimental consequences, including some rather severe, all across the board. Rather disparately unfortunately.

We are, perhaps, just beginning to see the impact this will have on so many people, so many aspects of life. One might suggest it is time, metaphorically, to buckle-your-seat-belt. Things are likely to be about as unfair as nature is wont to be.
