You can submit your application either by paper or online portal.

If you have stayed outside of Canada for 3 years, you do not qualify to renew your PR card. You don't meet your RO.
Do you have any H&C reason why you cannot come back to Canada?

if you meet your RO, just follow the online instruction.
Soft landing doesn't affect your PR renewal process. Just fill in the form and put down all travel dates. As long as you meet your RO, it doesn't matter if you stay in Canada for a month/a year/a day right after your landing date.

Only thing i did soft landing.

We are all volunteers and not legal experts or consultants. No one will provide you with exact steps please read the internet or hire a lawyer who will do these things. One thing i can say is if you have more than 3 years of stay why dont you apply for citizenship.
