Dear all,

My son born outside Canada, whereas my family has a PR status. The PR application for my son is ready and about to send that out by tomorrow to CIC. I would have done that couple of weeks ago but getting employment letter delayed that. Meanwhile a TRV has been recently approved for my son. As you can imagine, my plan was to apply for both TRV and PR (dual intention) so that I can bring him on TRV ASAP while PR is in process.

Now my question, is applying for PR would anyway void the TRV which is currently approved for him? I hope not. (I have now mentioned his UCI# also in PR as he has one now)

I am almost certain that it should be fine what I am doing. But just want to make sure, so please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Nope - it won't void the TRV. Go ahead.

It won't affect the TRV at all.

My son applied for a student permit/trv and arrived here in Canada with his student permit while our PR application is being processed.

@scylla, @charmainefrances Thank you!

Was your son born AFTER 29 Jan 2014?

Just making sure that he was not born before your landing date. *whew*

I've seen more than one person here make the tragic mistake of having a child during the process of their own PR application (mostly fathers) and not informing CIC...forever disqualifying them from EVER sponsoring their child.

thanks for that :)
Yea I know what you are saying! (Later I realized that my landing date = the date you mentioned and thought that's why you are asking)
