After getting my passport back from cic Quebec, would I need a US visa to do my landing at one of the US/Canada borders at either (Niagara/Windsor/Sarnia or Kingston)? I'm currently on a work permit.

I don't believe that you have to be in possession of a valid USA visa but there have been a number of horror stories regarding flag-poling at the Southern Ontario border crossings. People have been given a hard time or simply refused service. You may be much better off making a landing appointment with IRCC. Caveat Emptor.
