PR Card Renewal Appeal

I landed 2007 and didn't stay in Canada for the 730 days. I came for one short visit after the landing to get my driver's license, SIN number, Medical Card. I tried to search for a job but couldn't find any due to the financial crisis and bad economy. I was advised by the recruiters not to leave my current job on my country to come and search for job in Canada in in the light of bad economy.

My card was to expire on November 2012 so I came on October to start the process to renew my card and look for a job. I got reported at the airport as the officer was not convinced that I should renew the card because I didn't stay in Canada for the 730 days. I said the following to the officer:

- I Chose to tell the truth that I did not live in Canada for the required 730 days due to bad economy and it was not best to leave my job in my country at the time.

- I did not have humanitarian reasons because of which I didn't come.

I applied for the appeal and I'm staying in Canada since the end of October 2012 and still did not get a hearing date from Immigration.

My Questions:

- How long does it take to get the hearing date? When should the date be expected?
- How long does it take for the whole process to conclude?
- From the story that I have told, do I have any chance to win the appeal??

an appeal for renewal of PR at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) is a lengthy process. an appeal procedure may take anywhere from 10 months up to two years or even longer, during which entire period the individual's status remains far from in certain. In addition, such an appeal can be very complicated since it will likely involve interpretation of the legal rules as they apply to the facts of the case. An individual will most likely need professional legal counsel to take on such an appeal.

u were outside Canada not for humanitarian or compassionate reasons hence it would be very tough to win the appeal.i wish good luck for u

obviously the lawyer knows the interpretation of the legal rules
