I am a daily commuter who cros between Windsor and Detroit. Today, 05/12/25 while coming back, the border agent told me that they have been briefed that some PR cards (which I renewed last year) are being recalled. He sent me to the office. There they said they will have to seize the card and will send it to Ottawa. They asked me to apply for new PR card and asked to use PRTD to travel.
Anyone faced same? They were sending lot of people to office today for same issue.

How did you obtain PR and what is your immigration history in Canada? When did you start working in the US?

Hi, I also travel to Detroit to work from Windsor and I got called into the immigration office today. The officer told me my card my get recalled and if so they will send me a letter about it. He told me to make sure address is correct on file. I am trying to check my address but not able to do it. I have India travel coming up soon...any suggestion what to do? I looked into PRTD it says it take 6-8weeks to get PRTD

I wonder if Canada is trying to close the ability to obtain PR in Canada and then work in the US until you qualify for citizenship and then leave. Would be interesting to hear whether people were previously working in the US and have essentially moved to Canada to obtain citizenship while still working in the US.

Has anyone applied for replacement card? Not sure why we have to go through the hassle of filling out application and paying fee for replacement while they are saying it's a manufacturing defect and Ottawa asked them to seize

Or those that get Canadian citizenship and leave to work in the USA on a TN and the ink isn’t even dry on there new “ passport “
Can only hope that the USA puts a restriction on that when the CUSMA comes up for negotiation

Is that what they have told you is the issue? Do you both have similar PR card issuing dates? That would be incredibly random that you both got stopped around the same time and both had manufacturing defects.

Not just two of us, there were several people and the parking lot was full. All were sent it for the same issue and they were telling everyone the same thing. Manufacturing defect and order from Ottawa to seize
