Hello

My PR card expired and need to travel from Canada to home country urgently for family obligations. Cant apply for renewal till 31 December to meet the 731 days RO.

Would I face problems in the airport while leaving ?.
really appreciate all the advise I could get

You'll have no problems leaving.

Returning is going to be a problem. With an expired PR card, you won't be able to fly directly to Canada. And you can't obtain a PRTD if you don't meet RO. You'll need to return via the US and re-enter Canada through a US/Canada land border using a private vehicle. You'll also have to hope you're not reported at the border for failing to meet RO when you re-enter - which will trigger procedures to revoke your PR status.

Thank you very much for your prompt response. Would it be a good idea if I apply for the renewal now (I already have 680 days of physical presence) and travel ?.

No - that would be a terrible idea. If you apply with 680 days you can expect to be refused and lose your PR status.

Agreed. Applying now will likely result in you loosing your apermentent Residence status for not meeting RO. You should avoid leaving Canada.

Hello All
Need urgent insight.
I will be applying for my PR card renewal very soon (I have completed the 731 days of physical presence). I have an urgent trip and want to know if it is OK to travel for an that urgent trip just 2-3 days after submitting the application ?. I know that I will not be able to come back in Canada till I receive my renewed PR card, which means that I have to apply for a PRTD from abroad. Is travelling that way would risk my PR renewal ?
