Hello,

I recently got the passport request (PPR) and I will get the COPR soon. I am currently living in USA. Is it possible to apply for PR card without travelling to Canada. I have a friend currently living in canada and I can use his address for the PR card mailing.

I recently had an emergency and wont be able to travel to canada until August. So I am afraid that COPR will expire (does it have any expiration date?). So the question is if it is possible to get the PR card before arriving to Canada.

Thanks guys. Appreciate any response.

No - it's not possible. You won't be a permanent resident until you have traveled to Canada and landed. You don't qualify for a PR card unless you are a permanent resident.

Yes - the COPR has an expiration date. If you are unable to travel to Canada by the expiration date on the COPR, then it will expire and you'll need to apply for PR from scratch if you want to become a permanent resident of Canada.
