Hello guys,
I know I have made a terrible mistake by doing this to my self. Let me explain in detail; I hit the passenger side tire (just touched it)of the other parked car (with no one in it). Cops came but I wasn't in the car at the moment I was in the parking lot , not realizing what I have done. So I ask them what did i do wrong. They told me that i have hit the car. They asked me if it was my car. I said yes. they asked me if I was driving ---- I said no. They took me to station and my readings came out as 160. So I contacted a criminal lawyer asap. Now we are waiting to get the disclosure on JUNE 6 2018. So Please guys advice me something in this matter please(fight it or look for a deal). Also is it going to put any effect on my PR Renewal which is going to happen in 2021. Also please share views if there is any way out of it.
thanks to all
In advance

Your PR status will not affected because it not a serious crime. It may have to be disclosed in your citizenship application depending on the outcome of your case and when you decide to apply, but it shouldn't prevent you from becoming a citizen either.

However you should deal with this issue as any Canadian resident would do. You have a good chance of getting the charges withdrawn since you were not witnessed driving or admit to that. Take this issue seriously because a criminal conviction will still cause you troubles in finding employment and traveling.

I am a PR and was in a Dui situation last year. My trial finished a few weeks ago and I was acquitted. You can renew your PR card but cannot apply for citizenship. Getting convicted can have a major impact on jobs and travel. All I have learnt from this is to never ever drink or drive. It can destroy your and other's lives.

My limits were low right around 0.09 and that helped. Secondly what helped was getting a good lawyer. Do your research, not what just google recommends or the so called DUI specialists. Get an experienced and reputable Criminal lawyer. I know that it can be very expensive to get a good lawyer, but a conviction can have a huge impact on your life.
