Hi everyone,

I am looking for experiences or advice from anyone who has been in this specific situation.

My Situation:

  1. I have a TRV application that has been stuck in Comprehensive Background Check (Security Screening) for 2.5 years.
  2. I recently received my ITA and submitted my Express Entry PR application.
My Questions:
  • Process: Does the PR application trigger a brand new security screening from scratch, or does it link to the ongoing investigation from my TRV?
  • Timeline: Since my security check has already been "in progress" for 2.5 years, is there any chance the PR application will clear faster? Or should I expect the PR application to hit the same wall and get stuck just like the TRV?
If you have gone through PR with a stuck TRV in the background, please share your timeline/outcome.

I’m in the same situation, except I’ve been waiting for my TRV (inland) for about 1.1 years now. I’d also really appreciate hearing about anyone else’s experiences or any information they can share about going through similar cases.

I also have an ongoing non-EE PNP application since June 2025 (finally received AOR recently). BTW, Miss bee has replied to my questions in another thread, that is related to the non-EE PNP application: https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...applications-gather-here.730189/post-11129599

Copying her response here: There won't be any delay in Non express entry application due to pending TRV application. They both are different applications and processed by different departments and different visa offices and officers .

Ah interesting, me too. There's a trick in tracker that you can use to see if your security check is comprehensive or not, but you only get to see it after it goes to security. In case you don't know:
Go to your application and press View Application History, then press F12 then: object --> relations --> 0 --> history then ctrl+F and search security. If it started it should be there and if the actStatus is 17 then that means comprehensive security check.

Wow, it really works :) Thanks!
