Hi there,

I submitted my Permanent Residency application in May 2016 after being pulled from the Express Entry Pool. I'm hearing from my Immigration Consultant that they're only now processing February applicants which is more like a 9 month processing time rather than the 6 months they 'commit' to.

Has anyone else submitted around this time?
Any thoughts on processing times being longer or shorter than 6 months

They haven't really "committed" to anything. 6 months is the average; plenty of people end up having to wait much longer.

It largely depends on the visa officer handling your case and the complexity of your own application - someone with multiple job experiences, or family members will be screened longer than someone single and worked for one job only.

The average processing time seems to be at six months, although I've seen a few cases where the application did not even take 3 months!

April AOR's have started getting PPR's as well now; yet at the same time there are still some people with Jan, Feb and March AOR's still waiting (including myself). The 6 month mark is just a benchmark that CIC strives to process the majority of the applications within. The data analysed since the express entry system was introduced basically suggests a few things; 80% of the applications are processed within 6 months, the remaining 20% can take much longer depending on a number of factors which vary from case to case (BG checks, security clearances, military service, multiple applicants, etc.). However in most cases, these remaining applicants that form part of the 20% group are receiving PPR's within 7 - 9 months.

Agreed with others - there was no commitment made to 6 month processing.
