PR CEC APPLICATION| OUT OF STATUS | NEED ADVICE ON PROCESSING TIME

For background i had received an ITA in Dec 2025 and had applied within the month for CEC PR. My original PGWP had expired in October 2025. I had applied for an extension of the work permit based on an LMIA application my employers had submitted in Jan 2025. In Feb 2026 i received rejection of my WP extension since i still hadnt received a reply from the LMIA application. This essentially left me out of status and i had not applied for a BOWP since i already had a WP extension application in progress.

I am currently out of status and have already submitted a restoration application for a visitor record.

My main question would be that how much will this affect my processing time for my PR application? I was expecting to hear back by April if i got lucky and thanks to Gemini, it mentions that my application will now take 8-10 months to process. Has anyone experienced this? Would love to know thoughts and experiences!

Current processing for CEC is sitting around 7 months right now. That's the official number. But your file isn't straightforward anymore because there's extra stuff for the officer to look at. The work permit refusal, the pending restoration, the LMIA situation - they've got to verify all of that.

Definetly hectic as i am now out of work for potentially 6+ months depending on how long it takes to process.

On the other hand, ChatGPT mentions that some officers may not wait for the status to renew and may just issue the eCOPR regardless. I applied in December so currently hoping to hear back around April or May for P1/P2.
