Hi everyone. I applied for PR outland in December 2014 so from the timeline I know I won't hear anything from CIC at least till late feb or early March (for now). I'm from Malaysia so I need visa to enter Canada. We're hoping that I can get my PR before September this year so my kids can start school.

My question is: If my PR application takes longer than I anticipated ( after Sept) , can I apply for visa to Canada and stay there till I get approve? What are the chances that my visitor visa get approve?
I want my kids to start school this year and start in the beginning of school term. Technically they can go first with my husband since they are all Canadian but we prefer not to be separated.

I think that I have a strong case: Married for 13 years already, 2 kids, I am a professional (a dentist and got my degree from canada ).We're moving to Nova Scotia where his family lives and where we lived before we move to Malaysia so most of our friends and families are there. I know Nova Scotia wants more people now more than other province since nobody wants to live in one of the highest taxed province. But you never know..anything can happen in term of PR application right?

Anyone from non visa exempt country actually get a visitor visa while application for PR is in process?
How do you convince them that you're gonna leave but you intended to stay?
Is there any special visa/permit that I can apply other than tourist visa?

Thanks guys!

There is no special permit unfortunately - your only option is a tourist visa (or a work permit if you can find an employer in Canada willing to offer you a full time job and also willing to go through the LMIA process). Some people are approved - so by all means try and hopefully you'll get lucky. You may want to read through the posts in the visitor section of the forum as well since many of them deal with what evidence to provide to increase the chances of approval. However it does tend to be more difficult if your spouse and children are Canadian and you have submitted a PR application.

It's too bad your file is being processed through Singapore - that's not a great office in terms of processing times. But you obviously don't have any choice in the matter.

Good luck.

Thanks Scylla.

For Singapore it doesn't take that long. From the forum a lot of people get their visa roughly within 6-10 months even though in the website it's 31 months. So I really hope that our case is a straight forward case and can get through within that range. I also notice that some people's application is being process in Ottawa (since the new IMM0008 form did not specify case processing center). They said that it's for people who's case is a straight forward and has no red flags but so far only people from visa exempt country get processed there.

Anyway, I'm gonna see after they process my app ( hopefully in end of feb/march). For the time being..I'll keep praying ;D
