Hi there,

I am the Principal Applicant for my Family Class application and I recently received my PPR from IRCC. The PPR states that I should submit my passport and my common-law partner's passport (if applicable) through CVAC (VFS).

My partner is a Canadian who owns a Canadian passport and is currently living with me out of Canada. Should he submit his passport with mine to IRCC or is it not applicable to him? I have asked my local VFS and they said they aren't sure what to do with my partner's passport or if it is even necessary for him to send it in the first place since he is Canadian. According to them, there is no precedence to this for our branch and it is the first time they have seen a local passport being submitted alongside a Canadian passport for PR. The best they could do for me was to pass me an IRCC email address so that I can seek advice directly from IRCC, in which I have already written an email to them and am waiting for their response.

So yeah, anyone has any idea or faced similar situations? Would really appreciate some feedback on this while I wait for IRCC to respond. Thanks :)

What is the exact wording on the ppr? It probably says and all dependents or something. It makes no sense that they would ask for a cdn passport as no visa is needed

This is the exact wording on the PPR. The third one is not applicable to us as we have no children/dependents.

Please submit original passports for:
1. You;
2. Your spouse/common-law partner (if applicable); and
3. All dependent children who will accompany you to Canada (if applicable)

Right so it says IF APPLICABLE meaning if they were included to be sponsored on the application. Just send yours
