PPR Question - Passport Validity

Quick question to those familiar with PPR: should the passport be valid for more than 6 months for PPR?

I ask that because my passport expires July 2015 and I expect to get PPR in March / April, so I need to know whether I should get a new passport before that.

Hi,
there's not minimum time validity of your passport required but you have to consider minimum 1 month to get your passport back from CIC. Your landing visa will be valid as long as your passport. Do the maths.

Thanks a lot. I'll keep that in mind and give at least a 2-month buffer then. Worst-case scenario I'll get a new passport.

I would rather recommend to commence the process of passport re-issue and update CIC with the information once you have the new one in hand. Better to be proactive rather waiting for the worst-case scenario :)

My daughter's passport is still 6.5 months valid then CIC asked for a new one on my 10 months since I submitted my application.

Better if I were you to renew it.You never know how these guys work.At least you have a peace of mind that it won't be an issue when PPR comes.

Just my 2 cents

I renewed my passport because of validity. Emailed scanned copies of new passport. Better to renew now than any delay later, cz I noticed that some people were advised to renew their passport by CIC.
