When Berlin requests the passport it means they're ready to issue the visa. You'll receive it back with your visa affixed. You need to land in Canada by the expiry date on it. You can land in Canada and return to Germany if you have any unfinished business. Congrats on the super fast processing!

Hey just read everyone comments.. and im a bit shocked!I read on the CIC a 13 month wait for outland app via Berlin office. Me and my wife applied inland... and of course still waiting.... i imagine everyone commenting did outland applications.??:S Are any of you in germany right now or were you able to stay in canada?

We applied from Germany. I assume this means "outland"? I am the sponsor, so I am not entirely sure what we did. We live in Germany and we were expecting the 13 months as well. It was a bit of a shock to get the passport request so early. We still don't plan to move until December/January, but the earlier date is definitely much more convienent than next April/May. :) When did Berlin receive your application?

No we live in Toronto. He had ben admitted to Canada on a year long work visa so therefore qualified to be processed in Buffalo vs Berlin. We chose that in case there was an interview request we wouldn't have to fly there.

Going for a visit in less than a month, excited!

oh okay, I didn't know you could do that. Enjoy your visit :) Hope things are going well in Canada as well!

hi,

we´re in germany too. i´m still not so sure if i really get my visa..., just pray!!!

maybe kaychris found out some more information for us, it´s almost the same dates and the same situation

bye

btw,

on my letter it doesn´t say anything about visa, just:

Valid passport or travel document for yourself. This must be received at the office by: 07/27/2011

now i´m getting worried, i think i drive my husband nuts ???

We didn't know we could either at the beginning. As a matter of fact we assumed because he was in Canada we had to apply inland which isn't the case. We withdraw the inland after about 4 months and resubmitted Outland and it was approved in a little over 4 months :)

Unbelievable!
Congratulations!
I hope my processing in Berlin is going as quick as yours. 8)
My application was received there last week.
Now I am even more excited...

It doesn't say for visa issuance at the end of that sentence? Weird.. I still think it seems positive though, don't worry yourself too much. We called around a bunch for the dhl thing, and apparently someone else had called 2 hours before us with the same question. But we had no luck. We also received an email back from the Berlin office which did not answer our question at all. The email basically said the same thing as the letter. Regardless, we decided to send today and not waste anymore time. Therefore, I assume they will send the passport back regular mail. I guess we are just waiting to see what happens next!

We did inland me and my wife are living here in Canada. For me to be approved as the sponsor it will take apparently about 9 months..then they have to do all their investigating before they make their final decision, Im hoping it will be quicker. We went over both options .. outland and inland before we made our choice. I thought inland is our best choice but if people are doing outland and getting it faster then maybe we could withdrawl inland and change it to outland but I would have no idea how to do this lol.

@canadagirl,

just stick with the inland if you are already there aslong as you´re able to work and have where to stay. we had to do it outland cause we are in germany.
