When Berlin requests the passport it means they're ready to issue the visa. You'll receive it back with your visa affixed. You need to land in Canada by the expiry date on it. You can land in Canada and return to Germany if you have any unfinished business. Congrats on the super fast processing!

Thanks kelKel! :)

It usually takes about a month for the passport to be returned to you sometimes less! I followed Berlins timelines before we decided to go through Buffalo. My fiance is from a small town outside Hannover :)

@kaychris,

yes my husband lives with me in bavaria, we have the same problem with the dhl thing, at the post office they never heard about having an account as a privat person. i sent it "per einschreiben".
at the bottom of the letter it says that they need 10 days to work on it, lets hope it means that we get our visas. but otherwise what else do they want with my passport? they already have a copy of it also my id, they could do the backround check when they got the application.
and btw why should they need 13 months to process it or there are not so many applicants???

i have to stay cool. we booked flights for august, so my passport has to be here on time!!! :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

i get goosebumbs just by thinking of it. :) :) :) :) :) :)

i got the same letter as you, it says the same.

thanks god alot of people understand english, otherwise my husband would be lost :P :P :P :P

wish you a nice day

@hopetoland

Are you just letting them send it back regular post than? I saw the "10 days statement" as well on the paper. I assume you should have it back by August as long as there are no mailing problems. I agree that they could have done anything else with our passports that they needed based on the photocopy. Looking at the posts here it doesn't seem like there are many people going through the Berlin office.I didn't understand why it said 13 months when the majority of other European countries required much less time. Are you moving in August or is this just vacation? I like and dislike the fact that so many people speak English here. It definitely makes life easier, but I think my German is developing a little slower because of it.

Thanks again! :)

Did you and your fiance live in the U.S?

hi,

sending back regular post i think it won´t take long, normally it takes like one day to deliver. i didn´t know what they meant with the dhl account and i wanted to get the passport quick to berlin just in case they rethink it :D :D :D

another thing is that the e-case never changed it still sayes that the application arrived and nothing about decision made etc..!

i guess we cannot believe that it goes so fast and we make ourselves crazy about it. my husband and i we got setteled for a long 13 months wait.

but like i said there shouldn´t be another reason for sending the passport.

where are you in germany, i wished we would live in berlin so i can drop it of myself. german post is preatty good and fast

:) :)

I think the idea is that you need to provide them with the account number so that they can send it back with DHL. Meaning that, whatever it costs, they would charge it to your account and you would then pay. There isn't any problem sending it to them, what gets confusing with DHL is when Berlin sends it back. It is weird because we found a place on the Government of Canada website saying that they only send it via courier under exceptional cases. However, it didn't say this on our letter. I think we will just send it on Monday and accept that it will be sent back by regular mail. We are not concerned by time (now that it seems so fast), we are just worried about security through regular mail. We live in Cologne, but it would definitely be easier if we lived in Berlin and could just pick it up. Our e-case says that it is processing. It would make us very happy if we could move together in January, we were expecting to have to live apart for a few months while the application was still being processed (since I would have to go back to Canada). So we are very excited that our plans may work out better than we expected :)

Another question: did you all send a translation of the police clearance certificate?

Yup :) I believe everything that is in German needs to be translated ???

Yes should be like that, but somewhere here I read that people did not send a translation and it was fine.

hmm I am not sure then. All I can say is we translated ours :)

hi,

we translated everything just in case, and it cost alot. however, my husband and i booked flights for august and i would´ve stayed about 2 months and come back and stay with my parents, cause we were lucky and found someone who bought our house. and wait till this process is over and i get my visa in march, how we were expecting it. but now it seems that i can move in august, too!!!! i cannot get it in my head yet :o

i´m very curious how and with what surprise they will send my passport back. i hope its really the visa and not some security check that they make. ??? ??? ???

@kaychris,

with what number did you enter the e-cas, i have about 5, my husbands client id for sponsor approval, a receipt#, an F000...., a B..... and a UCI and what information did you put in, yours as a sponsor ( i assume your the sponsor ) information like name, birthday etc.., or your bf´s??? i can use my husbands client id with his information but underneath my part it just says application arrived...!

it seems like i´m addicted to this forum, lol

@hopetoland

I use my client number from when my sponsorship got approved. Conseqeuntly, I type in my name, country of birth and birthdate. They might just be slow to update yours.. ours was updated late last week. haha I supposed to looks that way for me too :)

No we live in Toronto. He had ben admitted to Canada on a year long work visa so therefore qualified to be processed in Buffalo vs Berlin. We chose that in case there was an interview request we wouldn't have to fly there.

Going for a visit in less than a month, excited!
