I attend a private career college which is a DLI but I was told that some private colleges are not recognized and therefore the application for PGWP is refused. Can you please advise? Why? Is there a list of acceptable colleges for PGWP purposes like how there is one for DLI?

That's right - some private career colleges don't meet the PGWP requirements because they don't operate under the same rules/regulations as public colleges. There's no list. So if you attend a private institution, you're taking a risk.

I would transfer out of your private career college to a public college. In addition to the PGWP often being a problem, career colleges generally have very poor reputations with employers and offer a lower level of learning.

To qualify for a PGWP, the following conditions must be met: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad-who.asp

What do they mean by operate under the same rules and regulations as public institutions/colleges? Unfortunately, I do not have enough money to pay for public college so my only option is to try seek immigration counselling or simply return home. My question is why would they put private colleges as DLIs if some are not of certain standard.
