Hello everyone! I have some questions about the PGWP. I apologize for the long post but I tried to include as much detail as possible. Some background:

I have not yet graduated from my undergrad program but some information about applying for my PGWP has come up.

I started working at my off-campus job in November 2018, I was a full time student in that semester and the following winter semester. I took 3 classes in the summer semester while continuing to work, where I did go over 20/hrs per week for some weeks as I thought this was allowed since it was a scheduled break. However, in the fall semester afterwards, I ended up only taking classes as I was really overwhelmed having taken 7 classes for the year already.

Only this year while emailing my international advisor asking for more information on the PGWP, I realized that I would not have been allowed to work that semester.

I was also planning to work full time this summer as I am going back for one last semester in the fall, however this semester I would be a part time student as I’d be taking the last 3 classes I need to graduate.

My questions:

Would I still be able to keep my job for the fall semester as this is the semester that I could be part time?

What are the implications of me working while being a part time student for my PGWP?

Thank you in advance for your answers :)

Is this a 2 year program? When is the actual scheduled finish for the program?

The illegal work can result in PGWP refusal.

It is a 4 year program, and I am taking an additional semester as well.
Would it still count as illegal work?

The scheduled finish date would have been April 2020, but I will be done in December 2020.

As you aren't finishing on time, summer is no longer a scheduled break and you are not allowed to work at all after the scheduled finish.

The work done in the semester last year when you were part-time was illegal.

Thank you for your reply!! Could you possibly send me a link/source where I can read up on this? I’ve been looking online and I haven’t seen anything about not finishing on time.

There isn't anything to read up on, as students are expected to finish on time. You can work during scheduled breaks in your program. Your program is done April 2020; it was your choice to extend your courses to finish Dec 2020. That means the 2020 summer semester is not a scheduled break in your program and you can't work.

So, I am on scholarship from my home country. I had to get a letter from my program counselor in order to extend the length of my studies. The letters says that I must complete 1.5 credits in the fall semester in order to fulfill the requirements of my degree program. Would this allow any exemptions since there is a letter saying that I must complete these in the fall?

No, you aren't exempt from the rules.
