Hello,

Im currently working under the post grad work permit and have been working fulltime for 8 months.
My friends invited me for a road trip to cross boarders to NYC. I have a US visa so I know I have no issues entering. I just want to make sure that my work permit alone will allow me to return to canada at the crossing. Should I bring other supporting documents? Like the job offer, my degree?

Im also going to go home to Japan, and Im assuming the work permit is enought as well? No need for re-entry or TRV?

You need valid TRV to re-enter.

For the US crossing?

Even for my trip home to japan? Coz when i got my work permit, I had it sent to Japan (where I was waiting for it to be processed) and I went to canada with just the work permit and no TRV

Oh so you're a citizen of Japan? If so you don't need a visa to enter Canada.

No I have a Philippine passport, but I grew up in japan. But since my dad works at the embassy, our passports unfortunatley needs to remain Philippine and under "OFFICIAL/DURING MISSSION" status so.

But its ok, I totally forgot I had previously applied a TRV when i was still in Japan and they gave me "multiple" and not a single with the expiration same as my work permit....I just broke a sweat. I thought I was gonna be stuck 3 years working withou visiting home.

Sorry for the trouble. I should be safe to travel and return to report to work.
