Hey everyone! My boyfriend is currently in Canada on a 2 year work permit which expires Aug 2018... IF our sponsorship application (outland) is not approved before his work permit expires next year, can he apply to extend his stay in Canada anyway? I know he wouldn't be able to continue working (as no OWP) but would he at least be able to stay in the country as a visitor? Hoping it would only be for a month or 2 max and that way at least he could resume work once application is (hopefully) approved. We're planning on applying next month so just tossing up between outland/inland pros and cons at the moment.

I've tried searching this question and it seems you can extend on a visitor visa but I'm a bit confused as to if you can do this while on a work permit.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

He can apply to covert his work permit to a visitor visa. Whether the application is approved would be up to CIC.
