Hi,

We (Me and my spouse) moving for Canada,Toronto next week. We are PR since 27th August 2010. We have stayed there for around 2 moths after that we both returned back to our home country Nepal.

We got baby here and she is 17 months old now. We tried TRV first and got visitor visa for our baby in second attempt. Now anybody here have any idea of Port Of Entry in Toronto ?

What types of question may arise there?
and what are the processes we should undergo?

Can you plse share your experiences or your expertise please.

Thank you in advance

You shouldn't have a problem because you are PR and your baby has a visa. If anybody asks, you say you are going to sponsor your baby for PR. That is also what you should do after you arrive in Canada, apply to sponsor your baby for PR.

Leon,

Thank you so much, Millions of thanks to you because today I am being able to travel along with my family only because of you otherwise I was in plan to move seperately. Hope you remember, you had recommended me to do the process of TRV and TRP(Next TRV). Thanks a lot.

I have one more confusion is selecting application form to sponsor my baby.

When I will be there, can I start the application process by next day and which is the right form to fill up and where to send. If you could help me in this issue that would be great help to me.

Thank you once again.

If your baby is on a TRV, you can apply through your home country. You can use the forms here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

The application is first sent to Mississauga but after they are done with it, they will send it to the embassy in your home country. You can find the forms here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

Just remember after 5 months, you should apply to extend the TRV of your child based on that you are sponsoring. By that time, you should have a file number from the sponsorship so you can include that when you apply.

Leon,
Thank you for your kind cooperation. Now I am in my home country but after 4 days I am moving for Canada. Now my confusion is,

1) Now i don't have time to apply from my home country so i have to apply from Canada. Is it possible? Can i start process from the next day of landing?
2) Do you think it may take more than 5 months ?
3) If it has been like so, medical insurance may be the matter of tension to me right?
4) Do you have any idea how long does it take?

Than you once again.

1) You must wait until you arrive in Canada because a PR can not sponsor unless he is in Canada so don't worry about that. However, you still have to use the same forms and the application will be processed by Mississauga and your embassy at home.

2) It depends on which your home country is. You can get an idea here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp Your child should be faster than those because those times are for spouses and children and spouses are slower because they have to check that the marriage is genuine and they need to do background checks.

3) You need to have accident and emergency insurance for your family for the first 3 months because you are going to Toronto where there is a 3 month wait for health care. When you apply for health care for your family, you can ask about the baby. However, I am not very optimistic that they will cover your baby before it gets PR. You will therefore have to pay out of pocket for routine checks and vaccinations but keep an emergency insurance for the baby in case of medical emergencies.

Hi,

Friends I am returning PR to Canada. I became PR on 2010 and returned back just couple of days before.

It has been a week. I have my 17 months old daughter in TRV visa.
Now I want to apply her PR.
I want to sponsor her within Canada. I found two categories forms in cic.gc.ca i.e;

Guide 3900 - Sponsorship of a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or dependent child living outside Canada

Applying for permanent residence from within Canada: Spouse or common-law partner in Canada class (IMM 5289)

but not being able to select right one. If anybody have idea or experience regarding?

1) If I use the upper one link than it describes that the application form for those who are living outside Canada currently.

2) If I use second link, it seems the form is only for spouse but not for the children.

Thank you for your sharing

Use the upper one but include a letter stating the the child is staying with you in Canada for the moment on a visitor visa.
