Haha true. We had to wait because it takes 7-8 weeks from the time they request it from Ottawa until they receive the go ahead. They sent the PPR at the same time as sending the extension request.

you.know.funny.thing zouk they never told.me anything about medical extension all they said was.supply a passport and make sure it.valid.till.the.end of.your.medical in 2014 so am guessing they automatically gave it to me.

Same for me. In fact the letter said I will need to be in Canada before the date of expiry

They didn't mention it in the PPR letter... they told us in response to an email we sent. Had we not sent the CSE, we wouldn't have known either.

Question - hubbys permanent residence application is somewhere on the turtles back to pos does it affect his chances of applying for us visa? His parents and sis recently got 10 year visitor visas so I'm wondering if we should give it a shot

Just thinking ahead to my husband's landing and I see lots of people discussing about filling out B4 forms. My husband will only be bringing clothes, shoes, iPad and a few souvenir type things and won't be shipping anything at a later date. Will he be required to fill this form out? If so, how do I obtain or can he simply make an inventory of everything that is packed in his luggage?

I'm not trying to get ahead of myself here but just want to make sure I have everything in line for when he receives his passport because I'm booking a flight for ASAP! Thanks.

My understanding is US and Canada immigration have no bearing on each other. My opinion would be to go ahead and see. Let us know how it goes. I want my husband to apply for a US VISA but think we will wait a while once he is landed.
Is the paperwork fairly similar to applying for a Canadian visitor VISA? I've never looked at the paperwork. I have a colleague who has tried for a US VISA for her husband but have been denied 3 times because she owns property in the US. He is a PR in Canada originally from Jamaican.

It won't affect it however, if you're able to wait until he receives his Canadian PR, I would recommend doing so. As a PR, his chances of being approved for a US visa are greatly improved, since he'd be able to show strong ties to a comparable country, i.e. no reason at all to overstay in the US. If you apply now, the PR application won't hurt, but won't necessarily help either.

Haha fair enough, I sense the excitement building My husband came up with similar things, didn't need any special forms. I believe the B4 pertains more to people who are moving actual stuff, like packing up your home and all your belongings, cause then you'd likely have things to declare and such. If you're entering with suitcases/luggage like any regular travel, you should be fine.

He has to take passport and payment to embassy when he goes for his interview. I will try it and see I guess he has his ties to home (house, property, business) and I don't plan on moving to the states plus thebparents got visas and his sis with 3 kids.

Yeah, that's the norm. Like I said, we only knew because we asked in a separate email. The COPR will also include your precise "land by" date.
