Hi there, I'm applying for the student visa and I'm living and working in Jamaica (as a J'can citizen). I studied and lived in the US for 5 years, do I still have to get a police record certificate from the US though I'm already getting one from Jamaica? I'd appreciate any insights into this. Thanks!

If you lived in the US for over 6 months after the age of 18, yes, you do need to get the certificate.

It takes 4-6 weeks for them to prepare your certificate, and probably another week for the certificate to reach you in Jamaica via FedEx. See the details on the FBI background check website:

If you want the FBI certificate soon, I recommend you get going on it immediately, as it does take a bit of time.

It will be at the discretion of the VO.
