So we just got another email from the VO asking for Police Certificates from 3 separate countries my husband worked in (for some reason they don't need a PC for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). For his work he works one month on, one month off, but there is one country where he only worked a total of 4 months in, where he was inside the actual country. So I assume they need the police certificate for this country because from the 1st day he arrived to the last day he worked was more than 6 months??

I'm so frustrated with this whole process!!! He is finally going back to work in a couple of days (and after a year and a half off of no work) and they ask for this, which is not easy to get. He will be away in India for over 2 months, and everything will be closed Thurs/Fri/Sat here. How is he supposed to do all this in 2 days, when it takes 2 days to get the fingerprints back???

Are you his representative? Did he try to order the PCC's from either the embassy or consulate for each of the countries he lived in? If he applies, they should be able to send you the details if you are the representative..

No, I'm not the representative but I am thinking we should fill out that form ASAP since he will be gone. And I am heading back to Canada in 2 weeks. Seriously the timing couldn't be any worse for us!!!

And no he hasn't ordered them yet as we just got the email (like 2 hours ago), but he has to go to the police station first thing tomorrow morning, then (hopefully) the next day he should be able to pick them up BUT he will be flying out the next day. So what happens if they aren't ready and he can't go to the embassies to request them. Most of them are Middle East embassies, not the easiest to deal with.

That's a good idea. Have him submit that ASAP through Case Specific Enquiry.

I can speak in terms of the Consulate we have had to deal with. They asked us to send in a mailed request for the PCC. They returned it (even translated) within a week. That was the Russian consulate in Toronto. No one had to physically go there.

So he went to all 3 embassies today and no one can help us.
India said they only give it to Indian citizens.
Iraq said he would need someone in Iraq to make sure the request was done, and at that it would take up to 8 months.
Qatar said he needs a POA in Qatar to request it.
He only worked in these countries, and when he was there he was there for a max of 6 weeks at one time, then he came home for a month. He was 'living' in very remote locations on the oil rigs.

What do we do next??

If this doesn't work, then you need to contact CIC via CSE and let them know what the embassies/consulates told you. Here is their instructions:
India: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp
Iraq: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/mid-east/iraq.asp
Qatar: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/mid-east/qatar.asp

If those don't work, advise them that the information provided by CIC to get those certificates does not work. They may accept that he was only working in those places.

yes, He already did that :( That was the first thing he looked at, since he didn't want to go all the way down to the embassies and get told to read the website, lol.

Looks as though he will be contacting them :(

What do you think of this....I added up the amount of days he was actually in the 3 countries and NONE of them were MORE than 182.5 days!!!!

The longest he was in one country for was 177 days!!!

Opinions???

Unfortunately, CIC can request a police certificate for stays of less than 6 months. You could try sending the visa officer a CSE explaining that the stay in each country was less than 180 days, with proof. They may still want the police certificates. (And while waiting for their reply, I would continue to try to get them.)
Do all you can to get them, and document every step. For example, keep emails and letters from the parties concerned stating that he can't get the police certificate in question, or that he needs to do step x to get it. Then document that he tried step x, and was also refused.
Then write up an explanation of how he tried to get each on, but could not. This explanation is often accepted in lieu of a police certificate when CIC sees the applicant did try to get it, and where they know that the country is one where people often do have problems getting a police certificate. You could also add that the length of time stayed in each country was less than 180 days.
