Hi All,

I came here when i was 17 and i have never leave the country for more than 6 months.

But the required document still required me to upload a document.

Is it okay for me to just explain i have never leave the country for more than 6 months since i was 17 years old?
Is there any specific format required for this letter?

Thanks,
Chatrine

so my understanding is u will need PCC for ur home country as u stayed there till 17. Then u have to see ur travels and add them together and see if u have been in another country for 6 months or more cumulatively. If yes then u need PCC for that country. Seniors please correct me if I am wrong.

As part of a complete application, applicants, their spouse or common-law partner and their dependent children 18 years of age or older (including non-accompanying dependents) must submit a valid police certificate for all countries or territories (except Canada) in which they have lived for a total of six months or more, since the age of 18.

So in Op's case if he has gone back to his country and stayed there for more than 6 months which does not have to continuous it can be 3 months in 2015 and 3 months in 2016 which totals to 6 months since they age of 18 that is when he would have to require a Police Certificate.

Hi,

I did went back home but when I added all up, it was less than 6 months. So, I shouldn't need the police certificate.

But, what would I need to upload for the police certificate then?

Thanks,
Chatrine

A couple of thoughts. First, if it is not terribly difficult to obtain, perhaps you should just get the PCC anyway.

But, technically, you are correct, it is not needed with the application. However, you should definitely upload a letter of explanation in lieu of the PCC. Keep in mind, however, that IRCC has the right to request it anyway, and probably will.
