Hi,
I need some information regarding validity of police certificates. I lived in more than one country during my student life. I have police certificates from all of these countries but they are now more than 3 months old. My point is that since I never visited those countries again so do I need to get a fresh police certificate again from those countries? I have a fresh police certificate from my current country. Please advise.
Thanks

Yes, if you have resided in those countries more then 6 months, you do need fresh certificates again not more then 3 months old from the date of your application.

Yes, unfortunately, Canada penalizes your international experience. You need to get all new PCCs.

But - if you are otherwise ready to submit your initial application to CIO-Sydney, you do not have to wait until you get the rest. They can't be older than 3 months at the time of your initial application. So you can submit your application, apply for the new PCCs, and have them ready to submit to your local visa office (assuming it gets through the initial screening).

Before you do that, tho, get all the information you need on the PCCs - make sure you CAN get them within 3-4 months...

Re: Police certificate from many countries

Thanks for your replies and apologies for the spelling mistake :)
Fresh police certificates from each and every country don't make any sense at all. I understand that a fresh certificate is necessary for the current country because the record can be altered any time. But for the countries where you stayed just once in your life.....fresh certificates seem unnecessary, I mean if I am not living there there how can it affect my police record. But what can we do we have to follow the rules :) Believe me I will have 4-5 police certificates from different countries :( and each country has its own rules and regulation. I don't know if I can get all of them in time.
thanks for the replies though :)
Regards
Maria

Hello Maria,

I think there is an exit for your situation. Procedure 7.2 in the OP6 requests officers Not to reject applications in case the application is full in all other aspects. In suggest you go ahead, submit your application with the current PCC and attach an explanation letter that states that you are working to get the new PCC.

Read below from procedure 7.2:

"Missing admissibility documents, i.e., police certificates, should not hold up the final determination of eligibility for processing. Applicants have been strongly encouraged to send police certificates. If applicants cannot obtain them, they may still submit the application to the CIO without them. The CIO will not reject these applications provided it is complete in all other respects. However, if the application is placed into processing, the applicant must be ready to submit the police certificates to the visa office when requested. "
