My spouse who is from Hong Kong is being requested not just for a HK police cert but also one from China (PRC). However she is not a PRC national and her longest stay was only 3 months on contact job in Shanghai. I am trying to get a hold of the Ottawa office to see if there was a mistake. According to the Canadian guidelines, police certs are only needed for stay more than 6 months. Anyone else have this experience?
My next question is how to get a police cert easily in Shanghai. I have done it myself for a university in China which is much different as I knew a contact who worked in the university and the university itself is actually authorized to issue a police cert. I have seen the instructions for Chinese police certs listed on the Canadian immigration office provides, but I also know they are virtually meaningless for China. Each Chinese PSB office operates a little differently, and there are no official procedures. So does anyone have advice for getting police cert in Shanghai?
