Police Certificate for PGP sponsorship

I have applied tonsponsor my mother under PGP category, and wondering if she would be asked to provide a police certificate from Canada since she has stayed her for 18 months under super visa category? If yes, how do you apply for one since she had already gone back home now.

She won't require a Canadian Police Certificate (Criminal Record Check) when she first applies, but they could potentially ask for one later.
