The TC should be signed by the person in front of the cashier while buying as well as en cashing. At the time of purchase, the customer will be required to sign each individual travellers cheque. The signature is one of the security features of travellers cheques as the user will be required to countersign the check at the point of redemption. If the signatures do not match, the cheque will not be accepted.

First of all thanks wilson for the reply.

I got in my mind the same thing so I think it is not possible.

What about draft if some one from canada prepare in my name and send me.

Is office can ask me how you got draft of canada branch or is there any other issue.

Manish Mehta.

Best would be ask your sis to transfer the funds in your name here in India or in ur family members a/c then u can withdraw it and make it into either TC or demand draft.

Will be much more better and hassle free!

Hope this helps.

Dear Why I am trying to get it from there because of Exchange rate.

To buy and sell there is diff. of Rs.1.5

This will impact me about 48000/- loss.

If you have source of funds in Canada, you should open an account in a Canadian Bank. In order to open a Canadian bank account from India, please contact your nearest branches of ICICI Bank- NRI Cell, HSBC or State Bank of India. Take your passport having PR visa on it to the bank.

Before departing to Canada make online print of your statement of account.

Hi Wilson and Manish, after wilson's suggestion, gazed thru a couple of bansks, viz., icici, hsbc, clearly was mentioned tht they wont let any transaction except bringing money from home country in that account....which means that transferring money from relatives is not possible, pls comment on the same...

Just go thru SCOTIA BANK star rite program.

It will solve all your proble.

They have an option to open Pre-Activated SB a/c right from India Itself.

Google STAR RITE Program,Scotia Bank, u wll get all details.

Hi amitsmeet, Appreciated and thank you very much. I already deleted the conflicting line from my post.
I agree to your important point about crediting funds from Canada to the new comer's account. I did not notice one of the bank's condition that the account holder has to visit the branch in Canada to activate the account. Then the question of transferring money from Canada, to show as POF, does not arise. However, new immigrants from any countries moving to Canada for settlement require to convert their money to Canadian dollar and of course every one has to bear the loss by way of currency exchange/conversion rate. I remember an old saying " You cannot catch fish without wetting hands"!!.

My people, good day all,
Please a principal applicant that is travelling first while other family members join later, is suppossed to travel with the POF of his and that of the entire family.............................is this assertion correct?

Please I need your guidance.

thanks

yes, irrespective of physical presence, the POF should be absolutely showing the same amount as filed...

Yes. Even if only PA is landing first, he needs to show POF for entire family. The fact will also be clearly mentioned in the Instructions that you will receive along with your landing papers. Your family members will not be asked to show POF @ their landing.
