They said Background check is not yet initiated on my application. Agent she is patient enough to send a note to my case processing officer that 18 months time limit has been passed.

I will be sending IRCC webform now ... I was thinking of getting GCMS, now i don't think i would request one. Just case specific enquiry should be fine & few follow up calls.

The following is my personal guess but i am not sure... wait for others' experience to verify this:

i do not think cic will really initiate ss on everyone because most get BGIP (i.e. ss initiated) and PPR on the same day. this is to say even BGIP is not real for ss to start.

i think the agent is reading out what is in cic account and thus she saw BGNA and then told u ss not started yet.

I think there is something to review about your application other than ss. For example, more routine verification about "LSFD", "lookouts", and "admissibility", "FOSS" and so on. I got GCMS notes about my last returning worker visa based on a PGWP, which has 150+ activities (yes, 150+) and it took me 1 whole month to wait, while the normal processing time is 1 week.

Plus, with BGNA i think u are not selected to undergo the long-lasting ss process.

If convenient, could you tell me by message what made your case a little bit more special? For me, I have lost a ppt before i came to Canada. I have included a full copy of that lost one (yes, lost, but i have the copy) and mark it just as an OLD one in my application. I think the CIC officer will be curious why my old passport is almost blank... so i am undergoing at least "LSFD Verification" now.

no i did not received Proof of funds request, but i would like to know if anyone has because i am starting to use some of my money and i'm wondering if they're going to request one if it might affect the funds i declared since it was not same amount as when i declared it

I'm on August 15 2016. When I called CIC on Friday and agent said background check is still in progress she said it depends on how quickly home country responds to them.

Might be true ... however few of my fellow citizens (inland applicants now) who applied after me got their PR approved this month .... So it varies ...

Sept applicants are getting PPR now .. you will be getting it in few days or most likely starting March

Nothing special , i called them & said am waiting past average processing time. You should be getting GCMS in 30 days.

And Feb25th 2018 is your 18Months processing time.
