I have a british passport so I don't need an entry visa for canada. I'm guessing the process is slightly different.

I believe it means you don't need a visitor visa , but it's permanent residence visa we are talking about here. we will see about that .

Now CIC have a new option, if you calling to speak to agent, you don’t need to wait for 30-40 min, the will call you back, just leave your phone number.

Just call CIC 1 (888) 242-2100, then follow all steps, then you press 0 to speak to agent and it will automatically ask you if you want to receive call back from them, just did it this morning.

Gotta be patient, they are just issuing DM/PPR to Nov 2017 applicants, some Aug/Sep 2017 are still waiting. My guess would be 3-4 more months
